Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet on May 14, 2025, approved the establishment of India’s sixth semiconductor fabrication unit as part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). With five semiconductor units already in advanced stages of construction, the approval of the sixth unit further accelerates India’s strategic push to become a global hub for chip manufacturing and innovation.
